How to get to the Alcázar of Segovia in Spain?

  • If you are in Segovia’s historic center, you can reach the Alcázar by walking along Calle Real, a route that connects several iconic points of the city. Along this path, you’ll pass the imposing Aqueduct, Plaza Mayor, and the majestic Cathedral before finally reaching the historic castle.

  • Segovia has cycling routes that allow access to the Alcázar. However, due to the topography and cobblestone streets of the old town, caution is recommended. It is possible to leave your bike in nearby parking areas before accessing the monument.

  • From Madrid, take a high-speed train (AVE) from Chamartín station to Segovia-Guiomar station. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once at Segovia-Guiomar, you can take a city bus or taxi to the historic center and then walk to the Alcázar.

  • You can reach the Alcázar of Segovia by taxi. Taxis can access the areas near the monument, facilitating transport from various points in the city. Keep in mind that the Alcázar is located in a historic area with narrow streets and traffic restrictions, so it's recommended to confirm the best route with your driver.

  • From Segovia-Guiomar train station, you can take a direct bus to the city center. From there, a short walk will take you to the Alcázar, allowing you to enjoy the charm of Segovia’s old town along the way.

  • Bus line number 4 connects Segovia’s city center with the Alcázar, providing convenient access for those who prefer not to walk.

  • To reach the Alcázar of Segovia from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, you can rent a car and take the A-6 and AP-61 toll road to arrive in approximately one hour. You can also take a train from the airport to Chamartín Station and then the AVE to Segovia (30 minutes). From Segovia-Guiomar station, a taxi or bus will take you to the center, a short distance from the Alcázar.

  • To reach the Alcázar of Segovia from Villanubla Airport in Valladolid, approximately 125 km away, you can rent a car and follow a direct route in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From the airport, take the A-601 road towards Segovia, a straightforward journey leading directly to the city. Upon arriving in Segovia, follow signs to the historic center, where the Alcázar is easily accessible from the old town.

  • To reach the Alcázar of Segovia from Salamanca-Matacán Airport, located 164 km away, you can rent a car and follow a direct route of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. From the airport, take the A-50 road towards Ávila, then merge onto the AP-51 and AP-61 towards Segovia. Upon arrival in Segovia, follow signs to the historic center, where the Alcázar is easily accessible from the old town.

  • To reach the Alcázar of Segovia from Madrid, Segovia is approximately 80 km away and can be reached in about an hour. Take the A-6 motorway towards La Coruña, which becomes the AP-6 toll road after Villalba. After the Guadarrama tunnel, continue on the AP-61 to Segovia. If you prefer to avoid tolls, take the A-6 and exit onto the N-VI before the tunnel to ascend the Alto de Los Leones. Upon reaching San Rafael, continue on the N-603 to Segovia. Another toll-free option is to leave Madrid via the M-607 towards Navacerrada and then take the M-601 to Segovia, although this route is more winding but offers pleasant views. From the center of Segovia, the Alcázar is a short distance away and easily accessible on foot or by local transport.
